Hi, it’s Petr Tichy here, the tech guy behind Properteasy. I am the director, co-founder, software engineer, and, as you in the real estate industry call it, the geek behind this product.
In my 15-year software engineering career, I have helped many big brands and businesses build websites and digital products that are used by their happy customers.
Most notably, the Coles online shopping platform is used daily by millions of Australians.
About her

On top of all the above roles, I am also a husband to my lovely wife Martina Ticha, senior property manager and team leader at Gary Peer & Associates.

Why Properteasy?

Early on, Martina discovered that managing compliance was a bigger challenge than expected.
Exhaustion, anxiety, and stress were evident, especially when dealing with workflows, paperwork, and contractor communication.
The motto “Work smarter, not harder” guided us as we brainstormed solutions.
With Martina’s expertise in the field and my technical skills, we are on a mission to enable property managers to “work smarter, not harder”.
Managing property compliance should be easy, right?
Yes, it should.
Here is a typical property compliance workflow
- a list of properties with dates associated with each compliance
- some kind of reminder when the expiry date is approaching
- create a task somewhere… let’s see how your software can handle it!
- multiple emails to a third-party supplier
- when they complete the check, you need them to email you the certificate or
- they will upload it to third-party dashboard where you need to login to get the new expiry date
And this cycle repeats for all the compliances such as gas, electrical, smoke alarm, pool… over and over again.
If your property or agency is located in Victoria, you’ll also need to stay updated on the Rental Minimum Standards regulations in addition to the compliance mentioned above.
So, how do most agents handle compliance?
The old way

Like most real estate agencies, a spreadsheet is used to keep track of expiry dates and other important information.
Usually, one person is “in charge” of the spreadsheet, emailing a monthly summary to each manager, containing a list of properties that require their attention.
(I know, just reading this gives me a headache; imagine being involved in this workflow).
This might have worked initially to some extent, but soon cracks will show as the portfolio grows.
When you multiply the workflow outlined above by hundreds or thousands of properties and multiple managers, you end up with:
- outdated and incomplete information in your spreadsheet
- multiple logins to third-party providers’ dashboards
- important emails scattered across company inboxes
- no clear workflow for managers to follow
- leadership without visibility into portfolio compliance
- property managers not taking responsibility
- overwhelmed and stressed property managers
